Resurrection of the Tardis

"I'm telling you Doctor," shouted Adric over the sound of toast popping, "The Tardis can't dematerialise because you haven't tuned the Dematerialisation Circuit correctly!"
"No Adric," replied the Doctor as he buttered his toast, "it's because I don't have an exterior for the machine."
"What do you mean?"
"The machine works because the interior is a dimension of its own. The exterior- in this case a police box- works as an anchor. When we activate the dematerialisation circuit, the police box is pulled into the time vortex. The interior however, is not anywhere as it's its own dimension linked to the exterior by very complicated physics. On what I'm building here, there is not an exterior, therefore meaning there is nothing to dematerialise meaning that we can't travel anywhere!"
"Well the actual Tardis is going to come to us so we'll have to get out there someway."
"I've designed a system I'm calling aquatic receptor circuits which I could use."
"Oh look, Lyras here."
As Adric said that, Lyra walked into the kitchen. "Hello."
"Morning."
"What are you two arguing about?"
"Dematerialisation circuits." Answered Adric.
"Sometimes when you speak, it sound as if you aren't human!"
"I'm not."
"Oh."
An awkward silence fell over the breakfast room until the Doctor spoke, "Won't be too long now until we can go exploring in time and space."
"I can't wait!" Replied Lyra.
"Neither can I!"  Interrupted Adric.
"That's great! Now then, what are you doing today."
"I'm thinking about breaking into Unit HQ before Commander Troy breaks into hear."
"That sounds good. Adric, I want you to go with Lyra."
"Why?"
"Because I've got stuff to do that will bore you."
"Does it  involve mathematics?"
"A little bit."
"Well I'll do them."
"Here," the Doctor tore a page out of his notebook and wrote a few numbers on it, "this is my phone number. I need you to work out some hydroelatic coordinates for me. Once you've done that, phone me."
"Ok Doctor. How are we going to get to Unit HQ, Lyra?"
"On my bike."
Adric had travelled on many things in his life but never had he been so amazed by the power and speed of Lyras Vespa! It accelerated past all the cars and through the country side until it pulled to a halt in a random field. Lyra helped Adric off the bike and they walked towards one of the larger trees.  She lifted back a piece of bark to reveal an intercom. "This is a friend of the Doctor."
"Which one?" Replied a gruff tone.
"I'm Lyra and Adric is with me."
"Would you name at least three aliens and a commanding officer you've met."
"Commander Troy, Cybermen, Silurians and Time Lords."
"Thank you. An officer will be up to you briefly."
An hour and a half later, Lyra and Adric were led into the underground base by a man called, Corporal Mald who had been employed after the Cyberman affair. "Hello Miss Lyra, Master Adric."
"Hi. Does Commander Troy want to see us?"
"No. He does however want you to be presented with access badges."
"Well thank you." Said Lyra, taken aback, as she had a card with a metallic boarder handed to her.
"And one for Adric."
"Thanks. I've finished the maths so I need to call the Doctor."
"You won't get a signal in here Adric." Said Mald.
"Where could I get one then?"
"The computer rooms are probably busy so we'll go down to the cells."
The cells were no better than they sounded. Imagine a room with lots of books in and comfy armchairs and computers and food. Now forget this as it's got nothing to do with the story. In fact the actual room looked like a grey and brown basement with Perspex plates held up against each hole in the wall. Inside these holes were all sorts of things, alien documents, technology and- in some cases- actual aliens. Adric took Lyras phone and typed in the number, "Oh hi Doctor. It's me Adric. I've worked out your numbers. They are 6578491218E, 1254782974918i, do you need the other numbers?"
"No thanks Adric." Replied the Doctor.
"Great."
"How is everything?"
"We've been given access badges."
"That's good isn't it."
"I guess. How's the dematerialisation going?"
"Much better now."
"What?"
"Adric? What's happening?"
"One of the cell doors has opened."
"Which one?"
"According to Mald, the one with the Echo creatures in."
"That's not good."
"What should we do?"
"Get to a room with sprinklers in."
Adric hung up, stuffing the phone in his pocket. Stepping out of a cell door, was three creatures with metal helmets. There was two glass discs sat on the metal helmet that shone blue. They were dressed in grey tunics. The nearest to Adric stuck it's hand a out and started to drain energy from a table in the room until it went grey. The table became humanoid and then became an Echo.
"Run!" Screamed Lyra. They ran down a corridor with the Echo creatures behind them, creating more of their kind by the second. Mald led them into a large room with a sprinkler system on the roof. Suddenly the Echo creatures stepped into the door way trapping them in. "What should we do?" Asked Adric.
"Call the Doctor." Answered Lyra.
Adric got out the phone and dialled, suddenly pausing to listen to the Doctor. "He says we must activate the sprinklers."
"Alright." Said Corporal Mald. He pulled out a hand gun and shot directly at the fire alarm button. It started to rain down water on them and Lyra was just about to curse the Doctor when she saw sparks coming from the raining down water. It had formed a sort of ark and seemed to have a whirling spiral in the centre. Suddenly blue  light spilled out and a humanoid form appeared in the water. It cleared a bit to reveal the Doctor standing in a Victorian archway- just like the one at the front of the Reptuswan theatre. "Hello you lot!" He shouted over the rain and growls of the Echo creatures, "come on then! Shake a leg."
Not asking the obvious questions, Adric and Mald ran into the pouring water, past the Doctor, and disappeared. Lyra just stood there, so the Doctor stepped out and caught her hand. He pulled her in and she remembered passing from an office, into water, into a Victorian Archway and then into the most majestic room she had ever entered. In the centre of the roof was a glass tube with a swirling haze of light in it- there seemed to be a humanoid form appearing and disappearing but she reckoned it was her mind playing tricks on her. The glass tube entered a hexagonal console with strange and recognizable implements on it. It seemed to glow. There was also several rings of different colours  coming out of the consoles base on the floor were several rings of different colours. These stopped as around the console were several bits and pieces. There were a couple of chairs around a table, some paintings and a gigantic Egyptian sarcophagus sat at the back of the room. Most of the walls were lined with bookcases and there was a stair case directly to her left. The Doctor ran past her and to the console. "What is this?" She exclaimed.
"It's a type 40 Tardis, Lyra. Just going to pull the door control so I'd step away from the arch." The Doctor pulled a lever on the console and a pair of oak doors popped into the archway.
"What does that even mean?" She asked.
"Tardis? Oh the old girls an acronym." The Doctor pulled another lever. "It translates as Time And Relative Dimension In Space."
"Oh. What does it do?"
"Travels through space and time."
"How does it work?"
"Well, the whole thing should be powered by the Eye of Harmony but instead it's powered by a mixture of rift drilling and the Crux Paradigm. The power is transferred from the heart to the console where I can operate it. The six sides all have a name. There's the Helm, Navigation, Diagnostic, Communications, Fabrication and Mechanical. To start off with, you need to activate the dematerialisation fabrication. You then need to pull the time rotor handbrake to unlock the time column- the big glass thing in the middle. Then you plot a course with the directional pointer and the spice diagnostic generator. Adric, hold down the steering mechanism. We seem to have an incoming enemy."
"What?"
"The Echo creatures are following us! Quickly then, there is a screen up there, what is it showing Lyra?"
"Nothing."
"Need to activate the time path detector and time curve indicator. What does it show now?"
"Some squiggles moving in."
"Ah! Right then, I'll have to shake them off. Adric hold down the steering mechanism. Right, I'll activate the engine release lever," the Tardis shook into life, "probably best to activate the locking down mechanism." The Tardis started to calm down a little but they were still being thrown around. "They are still after us Doctor." Spoke Lyra.
"Ah. Time to step it up. Forward in time!" He pushed the lever forward and clicked a button. "Going to have to improve the speed. Atom accelerator, full blast! Quantum foam manipulators, here we go! Organic diagnostic come on my friend!"
The whole Tardis lurched to one side and it went very hot, "ah! Do I slow us down and stop us from boiling or vice versa?"
"Slow us down Doctor!"
"Cooling system, here we go!" Suddenly fans activated. "And we'll set gyroscopic stabilisers to basic." The Doctor ran around the console for a bit longer when suddenly a bell sounded. "There are the cloisters! Back in time then!" The Doctor pulled the forwards in time lever back and they went back in time. The Doctor ran around for a bit longer when he pulled the time rotor handbrake back. Then, pressing the materialising fabrication button, he snapped the door control. The Doors burst open and the people in the Tardis burst out into Unit HQ. "Ah Doctor." Spoke Commander Troy.
"Hello Commander. The Echo creatures are in the time vortex so don't bother about them. Here's Corporal Mald. We're off! See you later!"
"Doctor?" The Doctor didn't listen and just walked back into the Tardis with Lyra and Adric. "Where are we going now Doctor?"
"I believe one of your favourite magicians was Robert Houdin."
"Yes."
"Funny because I'm one of his friends."

The Doctor, Lyra and Adric will return in, 'Tempests in Paris'

Old Friend Upgraded

The Doctor stared at the Perspex tube which held the body of one of his old friends.
"Adric?" Asked Lyra. "As in ADRIC pod?"
"So it would seem." The Doctor raced towards one of the computer screens that sat near the tube. He scanned it with his hand device and some information came up. "Block Transfer computation."
"What?"
"Me and Adric were friends. Near the end of my fourth life we worked on a system called block transfer computation. Basically you can create constructs and buildings and the like through mathematics and computer software."
"What has this got to do with anything?"
"It would appear the Cybermen are using block transfer information from Adric's brain to signal things from the ADRIC pods into other devices. They seem to have a small perceptive residue on them."
"I don't really understand."
"Basically every ADRIC pod has a signalling device in it. When the Cybermen want, they can activate the signalling. The block transfer computation information in Adric's brain is then transferred into the real world. It effects objects such as the fridge in your kitchen turning it into an ADRIC device, something that could change someone into a Cyberman. But somehow Adric had been sending messages out of the devices, like when I regenerated he projected himself into the room. Probably because he picked up the partron energy. The question is, what are they going to do?"
"Right. Just to interrupt you there, but the Cybermen are getting through the door."
"Ah!" The Doctor pressed his hand to the Perspex tube and sent out a blast of energy. The tube smashed and the horrible gloop spilt out. Adric washed out with it and fell onto the floor. The Doctor picked him up and scanned his chest with the contraption on his hand. The Doctor turned to the IPod screen on his contraption and looked at some stats. "I'm going to shock him."
"Ok."
The Doctor pressed the device to the boys chest and let out a bolt of energy. Adric lurched up and gave out a scream. "Don't worry Adric."
"Who are you?"
"I'm the Doctor."
"No you're not."
"Yes I am!"
"The Doctor should wear red jackets with long scarfs but then took to wearing cricket clothes. You good sir, are dressed as a magician."
"I know! But it is me and you'll have to trust me as there are Cybermen on the way."
The Doctor ran to a wall at the back of the room scanning it. "There is nothing behind the wall."
"Great!" Cried Lyra.
"Not great!"
"Why?"
"Is there anything in that corner?" Asked the Doctor.
"No."
"Does that mean there is nothing there?"
"No."
"Wrong. There are air molecules, dust particles, light rays and heat."
"So?"
"There is actually nothing at all on the other side of the wall. If we went through that wall we would find nothing. No air, no light, no heat, no cold, nothing!"
"I don't understand."
"I think I do." Stated Adric.
"Take it away Adric."
"The Cybermen had a base near water which didn't really make any sense as they get rusty but the thing is, what comes out of the sea?"
"What?"
"Rain. What if they dropped something into the water and waited as it rained."
"Obviously!" Cried the Doctor.
"What?"
"Nothing. Now what you need to know is that we need to get past those Cybermen."
"They have only one weakness as far I'm concerned. They react from freezing cold temperatures."
"Well then! This is computer room and they won't want it to over heat, meaning there must be a cooling system. You too, huddle up. We're about to go very cool!"
The Doctor activated something on his contraption and the room started to get colder and colder. he then opened the door using his contraption. It opened and the Cybermen flooded in. As they stepped in they stopped working- freezing on the threshold.
The Doctor and his companions raced out and down to the reception. They ran into the lift and they got a lift to some random floor that the doctor had choose. The lift stopped and the door opened. they were in some sort of computer room. The Doctor ran over to a computer and started to type something in. He soniced it and then continued to type something. Adric and Lyra ran to join him as two Cybermen walked in. The Doctor clicked some more buttons and then spoke, "The one on the right is a converted Cyberman."
"So?"
"So the first was converted by an ADRIC mirror. Which is a product of block transfer computation."
"So?"
"So I can reverse the process like this!" The Doctor hit a button and the robotic suit climbed off the body. It converted into an ADRIC mirror and then disappeared.
"And the other?"
"This software can control any device in the world. So take this Cyberman." The Cyberman just stopped.
"Let me just do one more thing and then we'll go tell Unit." The Doctor flicked some keys and then they ran.
The Doctor, Lyra and Adric arranged to meet Commander Troy at the Reptuswan Theatre.
He turned up and had everyone gather around the table. "Hello Doctor."
"Hello."
""Did you work it out?"
"Yes."
"Explain it then."
"The Cybermen kidnapped my friend Adric. They used him for his knowledge of block transfer computation. Once everyone had an ADRIC pod in there house, the Cybermen subjected all technical appliances to block transfer computation. Using a perception filter, the Cybermen made everyone believe that all electrical appliances were made by the Cyrus Institute. The appliances had been altered so they converted the people at the military site into Cybermen. The Cybermen took the computer system and injected  a load of microscopic projectors into the water. When it rained the microscopic projectors were absorbed by ordinary people and they used the computer software to make the people believe they were wherever the Cybermen wanted. But there was a problem. Adric escaped and managed to tell us all their weaknesses. We then shut down the Cybermen, reversed the transformations, destroyed all additional ADRIC products and froze the computer software."
"Good work Doctor." The commander left.
"When there was nothing outside the room, was that because the room was a figment of block transfer computation?"
"Yes. And that leaves  me with a very, very important question for Adric."
"Yes Doctor?" Asked Adric.
"Would you like a jelly baby?"

The Doctor, Lyra and Adric will return in, 'Resurrection of the Tardis!"

Advance of the Cybermen

Corporal Mald walked down the hallway of the military base he served at. There had been reports of problems with the Cyrus Institute gizmos that they provided all the soldiers with. He was just approaching the barracks when he heard a noise to his side. He turned and saw an ADRIC mirror, one of the Cyrus Institutes interfaces. It was glowing a funny blue and he reached out his hand to tap it. The second he touched it, a wire  started to coil around his finger. He attempted to pull away but couldn't as the wire grew round his hand faster and faster. Within seconds his whole right arm was covered in technology. The mirror opened up and started shoot technology at him. It wrestled him to the floor and when he stood up he was no longer human.
Lyra awoke to the sound of a hammer hitting some metal and a man exclaiming in anger.
"The Doctor must be struggling with whatever he was building again." She said to herself.
She walked down to the kitchen and saw the Doctor trying to dismantle her ADRIC fridge from the Cyrus Institute. "You're not taking the fridge as well."
"Why not?"
"Because we need it to keep food fresh. And anyway how's your project going?"
"Fine. It's easy enough to build but I can't get the actual system to work. The main things that aren't working are the Helmic Regulator, the Time Column or the Time Vector Generator."
"What are they?"
"You'll find out soon or enough."
"More importantly, are Unit going to break into this theatre every time they want to talk to you?" As she said that the roof broke open and a Unit soldier dropped in and spoke into an un-Cyrus Institute radio receiver. "We have a Code Red Cyrus. Repeat a Code Red Cyrus."
The doors blew open and a firing squad worked in. They positioned themselves and then fired at the fridge. The Doctor stepped back surprised and watched as the Fridge blew up!
The Doctor walked over to one of the shells that had fallen onto the floor and scanned it. "There is traces of gold in this bullet."
"Isn't that how you normally destroy Cybermen, Doctor?" Asked Commander Troy as he walked into the kitchen.

Commander Troy made himself comfortable at the head of the table. "Well Doctor, what do you know about the Cyrus Institute?"
"They make gadgets."
"Anything else?"
The Doctor typed something into the screen area of his sonic glove. "According to the internet, there have been many disappearances in connection to their products and some rumours of a picture of a young boy sometimes displayed on the ADRIC devices."
"We're interested in the disappearances Doctor."
"Yes well I thought you might be."
"We want you to get inside the Cyrus Institute buildings and find these people."
"Why is it so important?"
"What?"
"You are a top secret military organization that fights against alien invasions. You don't have any actual proof that they are Cybermen and bearing that in mind you are bothered about a few ordinary humans having had disappeared in circumstances that may have had been connected to the Cyrus Institute products."
"Can we trust Miss Lyra?"
"Yes."
"Well then, a state of the art computer software was being hidden at Fort Terant. The site was decorated with all sorts of ADRIC devices. One by one each soldier disappeared, each one being taken by the side of an ADRIC device."
"What happened to the software?"
"It went missing."
"What could it do?"
"It was designed to be able to control any computer device in the world from one device."
"Hence why you think they are Cybermen."
"Yes."
"Well I'll certainly look into it."
The next morning and the Doctor and Lyra were waiting outside the gates in front of the Cyrus Institute. The Doctor was still wearing his magicians outfit and was currently attempting to destroy the gates with his hand device when their was a large banging sound emitted from the back of the building.
The Doctor ran with Lyra to the back gates where they sneaked into the grounds. The sound was that of a lorry unloading something. What it was, they were unsure.
Making his way to the door, the Doctor 'soniced' it open. They rushed in and quickly made their way past the receptionist and then to a corridor. Half way down, the Doctor discovered a computer screen. He gave it quick scan with his contraption and it revolved quickly. This caused the wall to disintegrate and they were able to walk into another passage. This was different to any other they had already been in as it was covered in technology. The Doctor started to tap away at a computer screen until there was a whirring behind them. It released a scarlet beam and quickly several bodies of steel began to materialise from thin air. "Cybermen." Whispered the Doctor.
"What should we do." Replied Lyra.
"Erm, well, Deinceps!"
As the Doctor cried out onwards in Latin, they legged it through the iron halls. They got to a final metal door which the Doctor soniced. "Ah!"
"What?"
"It's deadlocked sealed."
"So?"
"I can't break it with my contraption."
"Ah!"
The Doctor kicked the door and hit the control panel. Nothing happened.
And then, as if the door could sense their despair, it opened.
They ran in and the Doctor started to seal the door again. "Doctor." Said Lyra who was facing away from the door.
"Not now."
"Doctor."
"I'm busy."
"Doctor. This is important."
"What!-" The Doctor spun around in anger until he saw what Lyra could see. "It can't be."
For there, standing across the room from them was a gigantic Perspex tube with bubbling liquids in. And inside the liquids was a young boy, probably fourteen, and he had black hair. His torso was covered in yellow tabard where you could see the imprint of a golden star that had been awarded for mathematical excellence. It wasn't there any longer.
"It can't be what Doctor?"
The Doctor looked into the tube and saw a boy he had first met stowing away on his ship. And he saw a boy he had first lost when he was trapped on ship with a course set towards the Earth. The Doctor remembered knowing that the dinosaurs died when the ship impacted.

"Adric."

Defence of the Silurians

"And over the last three months, crop growth has dropped to an all time low. In other news, some people have been disappearing." Spoke the television Lyra was watching. The news was always covering the crop growth dropping and problems in mines news and it was a bit annoying. As if it was sensing her negativity, the TV turned off.
"Sorry." Shouted the Doctor who was behind it. He still insisted on wearing the stereotypical magicians outfit.
"Why do you need the TV?"
"I'm using it in what I'm building." The Doctor had recently taken to building something on the stage, but he wouldn't reveal what it was.
The Doctor picked up the TV and carried it onto the stage, closing the curtain so Lyra couldn't see what he was building.
"It's been a week since you moved in, and you still haven't answered some of my questions." Started Lyra.
The Doctor walked into the kitchen and started to dismantle a toaster, "Well ask away."
"After you 'regenerate' do you normally forget everything?"
"Not normally. There are some things which cause it to happen such as a lead bullet or exposed power to the time stream. Although I guess it might have had been because that was my final regeneration."
"And what is that contraption on your hand?"
"It's a sonic screwdriver."
"It's not a screwdriver and it isn't sonic."
"I know but it does the job of a sonic screwdriver."
"Finally, why are there a load of soldiers outside?"
The Unit soldiers smashed open the front door and positioned their best marksman in the higher area of the theatre. The Doctor walked out onto the stage, taking the opportunity to hide the construct he was building. "Well if it isn't Unit! Coming to drag me to your base, are we?"
"Yes sir. We have a possibility of Silurians."
"Lyra, grab your coat. We have a group of angry lizards to sort out."
The journey to Unit HQ was a bit too long because of traffic causing the Doctor to jump out of the car and run around like a giddy schoolboy. The Unit soldiers restrained the Doctor and led him through to the main briefing hall. Commander Troy- who the Doctor didn't like- walked over to them and said, "Ah Doctor. Good to see you! Who's that girl?"
"This is Lyra. She is a magicians assistant and my companion."
"Miss Lyra." The commander saluted her.
"Thanks." Lyra seemed a bit confused.
"I here you have a Silurian problem, Commander!" Interrupted the Doctor.
"Yes." He handed the Doctor an ADRIC pod. The ADRIC pods were just like IPods but was manufactured by the Cyrus Institute. "There is video evidence on this device."
The Doctor fast forwarded through the video. "I wonder why they took that cow?"
"Not important Doctor." Replied Troy. "What is important though is that we find them."
"Why do we want to find them?"
"So we can imprison them."
"No!"
"Why not?"
"Because that would only cause them to attack us."
"What do you suggest we do then Doctor?"
"Break into their lair and talk to them."
"About what?"
"Why they took the cow."
Lyra laughed whilst the commander scowled. "What would you honestly talk to them about though?"
"What they are up to."
"Well then, we shall arrange for you and Lyra to go and meet them."
A few hours later, the Doctor and Lyra were being driven to a drilling site. They were directed to a mining shaft with a state of the art lift system. The Doctor stepped onto the platform and pulled Lyra on with him, "Are you sure this is safe, Doctor?"
"Not really. Just remember not to provoke them. The Silurians have fears which can be easily used against them but that should only be a last resort."
With that, the Doctor activated the lift and they flew down into a subterranean metropolis.
They were instantly blasted by the heat and met by a couple of Lizard people. Lyra was amazed and didn't know what to say. The first Silurian spoke in a confusing babble of tones.
"Ah." Said The Doctor.
"What?" Asked Lyra.
"We don't have the Tardis."
"So?"
"It normally translates things but not this time."
"How can we talk to them then?"
"I'll have to translate the conversations. I'm about to say. 'Take us to your leader.'"
The Doctor spoke the mysterious babble followed by the Silurians leading them to a hall in which their leader waited.
In the middle of the golden hall, a lizard wearing scarlet robes sat in a high chair in the centre of the room. "Hello!" Shouted the Doctor. "Don't worry Lyra! There is a translator over there."
The Translator told the king something and then said something to the Doctor, "He wants to know why we are here."  The Doctor said something back.
More babbling and the Doctor said, "They laugh at our cheek for coming. I'm going to ask them what the book under the kings chair is."
The Doctor said something in Silurian. "Apparently it's Sherlock Holmes. I'm going to ask him if he wouldn't mind talking English for a bit." The Doctor babbled.
"No." Answered the Silurian.
"Good." Replied the Doctor.
"What do you want?"
"I have a question."
"Ask it."
"The last time I was here I made you go to asleep for ten thousand years. It's been ten. Why wake up now?"
"There is a Silurian Ark on it's way to Earth."
"So? Why don't you let it land?"
"Because," The king stopped as a bullet flew through the air and hit him directly in the neck. He fell onto the floor in agony and started to sleep for eternity.
"What!" Cried the Doctor! He ran over to the dying lizard and tried to help him when the guards were pulling him back.
"What's going on Doctor?" Shouted Lyra as she was handcuffed.
"They think we killed him."
"How could we have killed him?"
"That's what I said!"
They were pulled across the subterranean metropolis and thrown into some cells. They were half way across when the Doctor purposely tripped over, his hat falling off. He grabbed the hat and placed back onto his head as he was kicked towards the cells. The doors were bolted and the Doctor sat down on one of the chairs.
"You promised me adventure Doctor. You didn't promise me being locked in a cell under the Earth in some where hotter than Greece."
"I'm sorry Lyra but it would seem someone wants to stop the ark from landing."
"Why would they want to do that?"
"I don't know."
"God it's  hot in here!"
"That's it!"
"What?"
"The crew of the Ark must have had been killed. For some reason the Silurians got attacked. The crew get killed. The attackers have hold over the ark."
"I don't understand. What's an ark?"
"Haven't you ever  heard of Noah?"
"Of course! Noah builds an ark to transport all sorts of animals away from a dying planet. Oh."
"Exactly."
"But why would you ambush them?"
"Because the Silurians love all species. They would never see them hurt."
"Right so?"
"So, the Silurians get a coded message. They start to decipher it and find a threat. It says, 'Give us an Ark of things from this Earth in exchange of our Ark. The Silurian king does so and is about to send it up when a Silurian who doesn't agree assassinates him. So far so obvious."
"Obvious? How did you work any of that out?"
"One second. Just let me think. Ah yes. Oh no."
"What?"
"The Master."
"What?"
"It must be the Master who sent them the message."
"Explain Doctor!"
"The Master sent the message to the Silurians. It must of have been the Master because the only language the Silurians can't translate by mind is Galifreyan."
"How did you know they couldn't solve the language by mind?"
"Because the computers are working at full blast. All of them!"
"How do you know that?"
"Because it's incredibly hot because of the overpower use of computers and the fact that a group of highly intelligent lizards can't use a basic computerized lock on a cell door because all the technology is being faced towards deciphering the code."
"How do you know  what the message says?"
"The news show you were watching this morning mentioned the disappearance of several humans and the drop in crop growth. The drop in crop growth isn't natural, it's because the Silurians are taking samples to put on their Ark. Same with the Humans."
"How can we solve this problem then?"
"Don't know. Still working on it. Now then, what we need to do is get out."
"How are we going to do that?"
"Help me up." The doctor outstretched the hand he normally had his contraption on. It wasn't there now but Lyra thought nothing of it.
"Thanks. Do you remember when I fell over and my hat came off?"
"Yes."
"Well did you notice that before that I had my contraption on? And then after it wasn't?"
"No."
"Well that's because I used sleight of hand to sneak it under my hat." The Doctor pulled his hat off and revealed the contraption- or his 'sonic screwdriver'- that he had hidden beneath it. He opened the door with the power from it and they ran out. The Doctor stuck is finger out into the air and started walking in a random direction. He led Lyra through a long list of endless corridors until they got to a room with a lot of computers in it. It had a control panel with bits and pieces on it and there was a large computer screen on the back. The Doctor sat down in a large leather armchair and gestured for Lyra to do the same for the other. She did so and they looked forward at the screen. The Doctor activated one of the buttons and the screen flickered into life. It showed all sorts of readings and information from sort of aeroplane.
Or maybe it was a spaceship.
"You played that strange video game thing didn't you Lyra?"
"If you mean the one where you fly a plane, yes. Until you took the Xbox and put it in whatever you’re building."
"Good. Now, imagine what we're about to do is just like that." The Doctor handed Lyra a futuristic controller and pressed a button on it. The screen came up with the graphics from the computer game Lyra plays.
"Where do I go?"
"Go forward until you get to sign saying 'Doc'"
"Done."
The Doctor shot energy from his contraption at the screen and it started to add different controls onto display.
"Ok. Go right for a bit."
"Done."
"Stop in five seconds starting now!"
Five seconds later and Lyra stopped it. As she did this a swirling mix of power surrounded them and when it disappeared she was in a completely different place. It looked like the bridge of the USS enterprise.
"The Silurian Ark." Muttered the Doctor.
"Won't the Master be here?"
"No. Well not if we're quick."
He started to click buttons and flick switch's. Light's activated and screens flared into life. The Doctor kicked something and suddenly the controlling area stopped working. "That was me disabling the manual pilot mode."
The Doctor typed something into a screen. "And that me was sending this away from Earth."
Suddenly a couple of lights blew up. "What was that Doctor?" Asked Lyra.
"The teleports failing."
"How are we going to get back-" She was cut off by looking out of the large window down at Earth. It's majesty was present as ever and Lyra, with her eyes wide open, became part of a bunch of very few people to ever have seen the Earth in all it's glory.
"Do you like the view Lyra?" Asked the Doctor activated a switch saying, 'gravitational tunnel beaming'.
"Yes."
"Good, cause we're gonna get close to it."
The Doctor sent a bolt from his contraption at the window and it flew forward.
"Well then," said the Doctor, "Deinceps!"
The Doctor launched himself through the window and started falling through space. Lyra didn't realise but the Doctor had grabbed her hand. She came with him.
They were falling through space and then suddenly they entered the planets atmosphere. They fell faster and faster until they hit some water. It would have had been more relaxing to hit into some brick walls.
"Deinceps?"
"Yeah. It's Latin for Onwards."
"Oh. Where are we?"
"We're in the Unit aquatic centre."
"Did you plan that?"
"Yes."
"Ah Doctor." Announced Commander Troy, "Thought I might find you hiding in a swimming pool!
Can we blow up the Silurians now?"
The Ark had flown off into space and wouldn't be bothering them for a while. The Doctor promised not to throw anyone out of planes and into swimming pools ever again and Lyra decided that playing video games could help protect the planet against alien invasions.
The End.

The Doctor and Lyra will return in 'Advance of the Cybermen.'

The Masterful Saxon

The stage was clear. The lights were bright. The audience had bated breath.
Lyra made her way to centre stage. She bowed and was just about to flick her wrist with the luminous material on, therefore causing a misdirection allowing the magician to be lowered behind a secret panel, when the sounds of a whirring engine exploded into life. She stepped back and suddenly flew across the stage as a blue box appeared. It let out rippling white energy that started to activate different pieces of machinery. She heard a clicking and turned around as she saw the bullet shooter activating for the bullet catching illusion later on. She hurried out of the way and watched in awe as a man stepped from the large blue box.
He was dressed in eccentric clothing, a large red hooded robe, and had seemed to be confused. He stepped out of the box just as the shooting machine activated. A little pellet of lead shot across the stage and broke through the clothing of the man spraying pink blood across the stage.
The audience were screaming by this point, except from a young boy in a yellow tabard who knew what was about to happen. The boy then flickered away as the projector turned off and the beam displaying him died.
The man from the box looked at Lyra then at the audience then closed his eyes. His skin started to ripple as heat spread across it. As he spread out his arms so he resembled a cross, his whole body erupted into flames. The orange light enveloped his body and suddenly he was no longer there. A form of blue light stayed inside the flame until it regrew into a new body that was too small for those funny clothes. The flames died and the man spoke two words as the Masterful Saxon, the magician who worked at the theatre in question and was called Harry, walked on.
"The mast.." He spoke and then he blacked out.
The man opened his eyes. They were blue and he couldn't see anything because it was the first bright light he had seen in his life. Although he wasn't sure why that was as the mirror at the end of his bed showed the reflection of a young man. It also showed the reflection of young woman but she was sat to the side of the bed and didn't have any wires hanging out of her. He remembered seeing her face before he fell asleep.
Now he was in an empty corridor, with one bed, a visitors chair and table and a couple of life support units. He looked towards the door and saw the weapons of two guarding soldiers outside.
"How did you do that trick?" Asked the girl.
"I'm sorry?" Replied the man.
"I've seen magicians do transformations before. I've seen them doing teleportation's before. But I have never seen anyone appear out of nowhere on a stage that is not rigged, survive an actually lethal shot and then transform themselves from one person to another whilst being on fire."
"I don't remember any of that."
"Surely you remember don't you?"
"No?"
"You said something before you blacked out."
"Yes. Am I allowed to get out of bed?"
"Sure."
"Thanks." The man climbed out of the bed and started to walk around the room touching different bits and pieces.
"So what did you mean by those two words?"
"I don't know." He said as he unscrewed a tiny bulb from an LED sign.
"What did you say?"
"The Mast. I remember thinking that when I saw that man in the cape, Those words arose in my mind."
"Interesting."
"Yes very isn't it." The man was pulling some wires from out of a plug socket.
"What are you doing?"
"I don't know."
"That reminds me. Harry had taken your blue box."
"Whose Harry? Which blue box?" The man was taking Lyras IPod whilst he spoke to her.
"Harry is my boss. He's the man who came on stage as you said, 'the mast'. He's a magician and I'm his assistant. The blue box was  your teleportation cabinet."
"Right." The man was wiring the little things together without looking when he said, "when you brought me in, did I have anything on me?"
"Your clothes were taken by the soldiers and your effects were put in a bag for you."
"Can I have them?"
"Here you go." She handed him the bag which he opened. Inside the bag was a key, a Rubik's cube with weird symbols on and a bag of jelly babies. He started to eat the jelly babies whilst he finished off the weird contraption he had been working on. He went across to a window and attempted to open it. "Stuck tight."
"What?"
"The window it's shut." Without thinking he pointed his new contraption at it and pressed one of the buttons. The device glowed red then green and the window opened. He looked back at Lyra and said, "Coming?"
"Where?"
"Back to the theatre."
"Sure."
"Lets go."
The man jumped from the window to the floor, it was only about six foot above the ground and he was wearing slippers. He grabbed a doctors jacket from the back of a bench and threw it over his back. His hair was pulled back so he could see and allowed his face to be observed by everyone with Lyra walking behind him in a gothic Egyptian dress, she didn't have time to change before she got taken to the hospital.
They walked over to a taxi and the man put his contraption over the passenger door lock. The contraption was a metal ring with a glass lens in it attached to the palm of his hand. It was held on by a leather glove with a metal ring on the outside. The leather glove was connected also to a metal band around his wrist. On it was an IPod with strange symbols on it and wires coming out connecting to the glove.
The man climbed in and turned to the driver. "Take us to the theatre".
"Which theatre?" Asked the cab driver.
"The Reptuswan Theatre." Replied Lyra who had just climbed in.
As the taxi driver exclaimed about all the weird things that had happened there, the man realised everything
"And that was just last year," Finished the taxi driver as they pulled up to the back stage door.
"Thank you. Sorry we have no money." Announced the man.
"Hang on. You're not going anywhere!"
"Sorry about the locks." The man put his contraption to the door handle and the car door broke open.  He and Lyra walked to the stage door. "Lyra I need you to make your way to the stage. Any door that you can't open, just insert this key into it." He placed the key from his possessions bag into Lyras opened palm.
"Where are you going?" She asked nervously.
"To get help. Make your way to the stage. I will meet you there."
"Ok. Thank you."
The man ran away and Lyra turned to the stage door. She opened it and walked through. Making her way forward, she stepped onto wings. She was in a little room and the door behind her pulled shut. She couldn't open and so hurried to the door nearer to the stage and tried to open it. It wouldn't budge so, as a hydraulic pipe from one of the illusions burst, she tried the key she had been given in the door.
It opened and she stepped onto the stage. In the middle  of the stage was the blue box with wires coming off it and plugged into the stage lamps. Standing next to the box was Harry.
"Hello Lyra." He exclaimed. He was wearing a black robe with red scarf wrapped around his neck.
"Hello Harry."
"Well you see that's where you're wrong. I'm not Harry anymore. I'm Harold. Harold Saxon. Or maybe even the Masterful Saxon. But that isn't my real name. Oh no. My real name is one of the words but not Saxon or Harold. My name is The Master."
"I don't understand."
"Humans never do!" He exclaimed the do louder than any of the other words.
"What's gong on?"
"Don't you remember the year that never was?"
"What?"
"The year when the toclanfane fell?"
"No?"
"Well in that year I won. The Doctor lost and I won. And with the Tardis I can make that year happen again. Now if I want. In fact I think it will!" He clicked his fingers and pulsing green energy came out of the blue box- or the Tardis- and exploded out of the lights. As the master watched the lights he didn't notice a black cloth lowering onto the back ground. He didn't notice the trapeze behind the material and more importantly he didn't notice the man hanging from the trapeze.
The man hanging from the trapeze stepped behind the Tardis. He was in full view of Lyra but could not be seen by The Master. He was dressed in a stereo typical magician outfit, popularised by Jean Paul Robert Houdin. The man lifted his contraption hand up to the stage roof lights and the glass lamps started to shatter. The time energy pulsing out of them died and retracted flying back into the Tardis. "Who are you?" Cried the Master when he saw the man in the magician outfit step out.
"I am The Doctor."
"But you can't be."
"Oh I am."
"How did you know I was here?"
"I was on Galifrey with Reptuswan. We were talking about your evil and trickery when Reptuswan decided to find out where you were. We saw you were here and I said I'd come and get you. You have crimes to pay for after all. I landed the Tardis there but I didn't count on regenerating."
"Well there was another thing you didn't count on."
"What's that Master?"
"Me stealing the Tardis." The Master opened the door and stepped through into the Tardis, the glow enveloping in.
"Master step away from that!"
"No. You always win Doctor not today." The doors smashed shut and the Doctor raced over, shooting the door with his hand contraption. Nothing happened. Slowly the Tardis started to dematerialise until the space it had stood in was empty.
"Care to explain?" Asked Lyra as the two soldiers from outside the hospital doors walked onto the stage.
"Ah. Hello Unit."
"Doctor. We received your message."
"Thank you for coming. Sadly my plan didn't work so I'll be staying on this planet for a bit."
"Ok." Replied the taller soldier.
"Bring me my equipment."
"I think the commander would prefer you to set a base at one of our buildings."
"No thanks. Now Lyra do you mind if I live here?"
"Without Harry there won't be any shows for a while so sure. We would be requiring money though."
"How much do you normally get in a week?"
"Well it's three hundred pounds on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, we don't perform on Thursdays, on a Friday it's about six hundred pounds and same on a Saturday."
"Well I'll pay you two thousand, two hundred pounds on the days you are usually paid and two hundred pounds for each of the other days."
"That sounds ok."
"Oh and in addition, when I get the Tardis back- because I will- I shall take you anywhere you like in the whole of time."
"Is any of this true?"
"Yes!"
"Well then, I shall be considering that."
"Thank you."
"Just one question."
"Ask away!"
"Are you going to keep that outfit?"

The Doctor and Lyra will return in, 'Defence of the Silurian's.'

The Occult and Helios' Eye (part 5)

A meeting a few days before they flew out to Egypt:

"Thank you for coming." Abbandon announced, smiling. He shook hands with everyone in the room. "Now I gather you here today, not for a wedding but for us to plan to break into the Public Alexandrian Museum, otherwise known as PAM. I've already planned it, but I want us to go over the finer details, to iron out any problems." He paused for breath, tidying the tufts of white hair he had remaining behind his ears.  "Right then. Work with the PAM has already begun. Miss DeMode here," he gestured to her, "sold a specially designed keycard to the head of security this morning. This keycard will allow us to take control of the doors they assign it too. And do you know what door that is?"
No was the general reply.
"The door to the restoration room, where the eye of Helios is kept. I'll explain why this is important later. Now, our cover is as documentary makers, which will appeal as the museum has been losing publicity recently. Miss DeMode will play our presenter, Bone Piern the director and Word Chain will play the cameraman. Joan, my personal favourite lab rat, will be playing as Miss DeMode's daughter. Here's the main problem. We've heard rumours that the eye of Helios may be being bought soon, so it's going to have to be a rather in and out style job. Getting in is easy enough, it's the getting out I'm concerned by."
Bone Piern smiled. "How about we pretend someone is dead?"
"I'm sorry?" Peter replied.
"When Margaret Thatcher died, the BBC changed their scheduling so they could have shows about her. I was most disgruntled, as they cancelled New Tricks. What if we did that? What if one of their staff died whilst we were filming and so we said we'd been given a deadline to finish so we could celebrate the dead persons life."
Peter grinned like a schoolboy. "Genius! Chain, DeMode look into it."
"Won't they find it weird that we're in and out very quickly? I mean the plan to get out is brilliant, but surely they might be suspicious?" Joan suggested.
"Which is why we're going to put it on television." Peter replied.
"We have our own television channel?!" Joan exclaimed, doubtfully.
"Of course!" Word Chain replied. "How else would you explain BBC 4?"
"Now, once we're in, we'll spend the first day simply learning the surroundings and then on the second, we'll perform the heist. And boy it's brilliant. At some point, one of you will drop an electromagnet into an inexpensive vase. That night, you'll return to the room and continue filming. About halfway through, Joan will request to go to the toilet. Miss DeMode will accompany her. You'll leave the toilets and then go to the restoration room." He pointed to the location on the map on the table. "The door can be opened with a keycard and a code, but quite cleverly, we sold them the keycard. The card is specially designed to record the code, so you'll be able to open the door. Once you're inside, you'll have to work out your own way of getting the eye back out, but you will have the electromagnet to turn off all the security cameras. Now, once you've done that, you can come home. Remember, you can stop the guards getting into the restoration room by deactivating the keycard remotely." And so it went on.

Sunday:

"Tomorrow." Miss DeMode climbed up. "Please excuse me. I need to make some arrangements."
She walked out and pulled out her scribe, switching it to the call menu. She got threw to the lab rat menu and selected the Bainsbridge Repository. "Hi." She said. "Is there a lab rat on site called Spud?"
"One moment Miss." A few minutes later the voice came back. "Yes, Miss. What would you like me to tell him?"
"Give him the brief case he handed in under my name yesterday and send him to the copiers furnace." DeMode hung up and dialled another number. "Hello? Is that you O'Collin?"
"What do you want?" The irish copier, a member of the Occult, replied. "I only get a little holiday from the Public Alexandrian Museum."
"How would you like a permanent holiday?"
"Is that threat?"
"Sort of. We're trying to steal something from the PAM and I need you to do me a favour."
"What?"
"I need you to pretend to be dead."
"What!?"
"I need you to allow us to fake your own death. I'll give you £25,00."
There was a pause down the line. "Make it £50,000 and you've got yourself a deal." He was being a bit cheeky at that moment, as he'd been planning to disappear, but he might as well take as much money as possible.
Miss DeMode thought. That sounded too much, but she remembered Peter's parting instructions. 'The artefact is paramount. Take it, by any means.' "Alright. £50,000. A runner called Spud will arrive with the money soon. I have got a question, though."
"Yes?"
"Of all the pieces still in the restoration room that you have made, which would you say resembled the eye of Helios the most?"
He remained silent as he thought. "With a bit of alteration, I'd say my replication of Michelangelo's David's head."
"Thanks. See you soon."
"Unless I don't rise from the dead."
She hung up and rung her assistant. "Hi AI." She said. "I need you to buy something for me."
"Of course, Miss. Under what name and from where? And what, of course!"
"The O'Collin replication of Michelangelo's David from the Public Alexandrian Museum. Offer up to £500,000 and put it under the Florentine Museum. It'll improve their confidence."
"Of course, Miss. How's it going?"
"Not good. Not good at all." She hung up and smiled. Perhaps it would work.

Tuesday Night:

They ran in and consulted a computer system, finding the location of two different artefacts, David's head and the Eye of Helios. They ran to the eye and dropped it into a box labelled with the name of the eye. They loaded the box onto a trolley and pushed it to the room in which David's head was stored. They opened the box and took the Eye out. It was round and smooth, unlike the head which was round but rough. There was a box in the room, identical in every way apart from the label on the front, which read 'David by Michelangelo.'
Miss DeMode, quite carefully, started chip away at the head whilst Joan swapped the labels. Once DeMode had finished her preparation of the head, so it looked like the eye, then she and Joan dropped them carefully into the two boxes.
All of a sudden, the lights went out. But Joan and Miss DeMode didn't react. It was part of the plan.
They flicked on their torches and carried the box holding the altered head to the room they had started in. And so they continued.

Wednesday:

Two planes rolled out of a hangar. "What are they?" Asked Joan.
"Our two courier planes. One of them is taking the replica head of David by our copying friend." The curator assistant replied. But it wasn't taking the head to the Florentine Museum, it was taking it to Rhodes. And the other plane was taking the Eye to Florence, where it would be picked up and conveyed back to the Obscure Meadows.
"Oh!" Joan replied.
After they finished talking, the Occult members climbed onto their jet and flew all the way back to England, to organise the new show being added to BBC 4.

The Occult and Helios' Eye (part 4)

Filming concluded that night in the room where the mini electromagnetic pulse machine had been deployed. As the complexes clock tower struck nine: thirty, Joan asked to go to the toilet. As planned, Miss DeMode accompanied her, however the curators assistant escorted them towards the public bathrooms.
As they entered the toilet, they managed to ditch the escort, and waited patiently for him to disappear. Five minutes later, he did so, and they sneaked out, towards the restoration room.
Despite being a fairly new building, the Public Alexandrian Museum was built in honour of the European museums that revolutionised the mass collection of artefacts. All the walls were decorated with paintings of ancient kings, the doges of Venice and other famous pieces of work. Miss DeMode smiled at an imitation of Da Vinci's Girl with tangled hair. It had always been her favourite painting.
They finally arrived at the door of the restoration room, a labyrinth of intricate workshops, each holding marvellous wonders, not too far away from legendary. The door was old and detailed, but that was just an illusion. Inside the door was a magnetised sheet of metal, which held the door to the frame, unless a keycard was inserted into the scanner besides the door. Miss DeMode pulled out her scribe, an experimental smart phone that the Occult had built. She opened the first app and a series of numbers came up. Smiling she told the numbers to Joan, who inserted a business card into the scanner. It beeped green and she typed the numbers in. Slowly the door swung opened.
They ran in and consulted a computer system, finding the location of two different artefacts. They ran to the first and dropped it into a labelled box. They loaded the box onto a trolley and pushed it to the room in which the other artefact was stored. They opened the box and took the artefact out. It was round and smooth, unlike the artefact in this room, which was round but rough. There was an identical box in the room, identical in every way apart from the label on the front.
Miss DeMode, quite carefully, started chip away at the second artefact whilst Joan swapped the labels. Once DeMode had finished her preparation of the second artefact, she and Joan dropped them carefully into the two boxes.
All of a sudden, the lights went out. But Joan and Miss DeMode didn't react. It was part of the plan.
They flicked on their torches and carried one of the boxes to the room they had started in. They were approaching the door when they heard a terrible sound. Two security guards approached the restoration room. Both Occult members flicked off their torches and crouched down, as the guards pulled out their key cards. Miss DeMode whipped out the scribe and quickly turned it on, cursing the flare of the hand held screen. She went onto the same app she'd used to open the door and pressed several buttons and then placed the phone down.
Two minutes later, the guards walked off, muttering something in Egyptian. DeMode gave out a breath of relief and then climbed up, leading Joan out. They returned to Bone Piern and Word Chain, just as the lights turned back on. Miss DeMode smiled and explained that she and Joan had become lost in the dark, just as the plan required.
They continued filming and then, the next day, were escorted to the private airfield that the museum owned. "It's been a pleasure to have you," the curators said, from the back seat of the car.
"Trust me." Bone Piern said. "The pleasure is all ours."
"I can't wait to see the documentary!" The curator cried.
"Neither can I." Joan muttered. Two planes rolled out of a hangar. "What are they?"
"Our two courier planes. One of them is taking the replica head of David by our copying friend." The curator assistant replied.
"Oh!" Joan replied.
After they finished talking, the Occult members climbed onto their jet and flew all the way back to England.

A week later:
"I don't see why I can't have champagne?" Joan asked as everyone clashed their glasses.
"Because I will not have children taking alcohol." Peter Abbandon replied. "It's against the law."
"Say's the man who orchestrated a grand heist."
Joan's friend pulled her off, behind the buffet table. They all called him Spud, due to his infatuation with Bob the Builder's scarecrow friend, and he had quite recently become Miss DeModes personal lab rat, after she'd had him convey a brief case with a lot of money in to Bainsbridge repository.
"Don't be rude to Mr Abbandon." Spud whispered. "He can do terrible things to you!"
"I don't see why you're so scared of him. He's an angel really." She giggled ever so slightly, but Spud didn't get it.
"Alright." He paused scratching his head. "Can you tell me how you did it then. I mean, I understand why the guards didn't get in, but I don't understand the rest."
"Deary me Spud!" Her time with Peter showing. "It's obvious once you know how it's done."

To be concluded
